Updated list of SEC teams selected for 2023-24 postseason

The regular season may be over, but that doesn’t mean the 2023 college football season is.

Following Alabama’s 27-24 upset over Georgia in the SEC championship game on Saturday, there remains the exceptionally more difficult matter of determining where each of the conference’s bowl-eligible teams will play in the postseason. Nine SEC teams finished with a record of 6-6 or better, including four with double-digit wins in Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss and Missouri.

The Crimson Tide is anything but a certainty to make the College Football Playoff, with the selection committee likely choosing among Nick Saban and Co. and either of Florida State or Texas. But what about the Bulldogs, Rebels and Tigers? All entered championship weekend ranked as top 10 teams, and each has a legitimate chance at making a New Year’s Six bowl.

Elsewhere, look for LSU (9-3, 6-2 in SEC play) to earn another bowl victory to get to 10 wins for the second straight year under Brian Kelly. Tennessee (8-4) and Kentucky (7-5) similarly will look for a positive finish to disappointing seasons. The same is true for Texas A&M (7-5) and Auburn (6-6).
