[AUDIO LOGO]FRANK SCHWAB: A day after the Tennessee Titans let go of Mike Vrabel, the Seattle Seahawks trumped them for the biggest surprise of this coaching cycle, saying they’re parting ways with Pete Carroll as their head coach. Carroll will still have a role within the organization. But his time as Seahawks coach is done.
What’s Carroll’s legacy after a great, great run with Seattle? In Seattle, it’s pretty well set. He had an amazing time there, 10 playoff appearances in 14 years, 147 wins, including the playoffs, obviously the first Super Bowl in franchise history. But part of his legacy also is not giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch at the goal line in Super Bowl XLIX. With that win, Carroll is probably a sure first ballot Hall of Famer. Without that, there will be a lot of debate about Carroll. But he had a great run with the Seahawks. He’ll be a legend there forever. But the Seahawks decided, after not making the playoffs, it was time to move on with a new coach and move on from the Pete Carroll era.
