Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is tasked with replacing one of the best recruiters in college football history, as Nick Saban had one of the top classes in the country each year. DeBoer never finished with a top-25 recruiting class in the two he recruited on his own at Washington, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. However, that did not stop him from making a run to the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship after inheriting a roster that went 4-8 in 2021. Recruiting players to Alabama will be easier than Washington, but DeBoer needs to bring in elite classes from Alabama recruiting and the transfer portal.
DeBoer has already been recruiting during his first week as Alabama’s coach, trying to keep the current roster intact while he fills out his coaching staff and reaches out to top high school players. Current Crimson Tide players have 30 days to enter the transfer portal following Saban’s retirement.
