Four years ago, the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs met in the Super Bowl. Now, we’re getting a rematch.
The 49ers punched their ticket to Las Vegas last Sunday after pulling off a wild comeback against the Lions. The 49ers trailed, 24-7, at the half, but they outscored the Lions, 27-7, in the second half to get the 34-31 win. The Lions were attempting to get to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
The victory means that the 49ers are now headed to the Super Bowl for the third time in 11 years and eighth time overall. San Francisco’s most recent trip to the big game came in 2019, and that ended with a 31-20 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.
As for the Chiefs, they advanced to the NFL’s biggest game by going on the road and beating the Baltimore Ravens, 17-10.
Kansas City will now have the chance to become the NFL’s first repeat champion since 2003-04 when the Patriots went back to back. This also marks the fourth time in five years that the Chiefs will be in the Super Bowl, which is a feat that’s only been accomplished by two other teams in NFL history (1990-93 Bills, 2014-18 Patriots).
With that in mind, let’s check out the entire 2024 NFL playoff schedule, including all the results.
