Eagles Stay or Go 2024: A couple of specialists are free agents

Eagles Stay or Go 2024: A couple of specialists are free agents originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Reuben Frank and Dave Zangaro bring back Stay or Go in 2024, trying to figure out the futures of every Eagles player on the roster.

We already looked at quarterback, running back, receiver, tight end, interior offensive line and offensive tackle.

Up today: Specialists

Jake Elliott

Roob: One of the few 2023 Eagles who can look himself in the mirror and know he did everything he could. Elliott made 30 of 32 field goals for a franchise-record 94 percent, and one of those two misses was from 55 yards. He was 7-for-8 from 50 yards and out, and he’ll go into 2024 with 15 consecutive made field goals. He’s up to 8th all-time in NFL history at 87.2 percent. Over the last three seasons, he’s attempted 93 field goals and missed eight, and that 91.4 percent mark is 4th-highest in the league. Elliott is going into the final year of his contract, and a quiet priority for Howie Roseman is getting him locked up for the rest of his life.

Verdict: Stays

Elliott is entering the final year of the five-year extension he signed back in 2019 so it’s probably time for another one. His APY of $4.03 million ranks 12th among kickers, according to OverTheCap, so he clearly deserves a raise. The Eagles are a team with Super Bowl aspirations and they can’t cut corners with a clutch kicker like Elliott.

Verdict: Stays

Rick Lovato

Roob: Other than Brandon Graham, Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson and Fletcher Cox, Lovato has been here longer than anybody. He’s spent eight years with the Eagles, and he’s been here so long he…
