Oilers captain Connor McDavid day-to-day with lower-body injury

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid did not participate in practice for the second straight day Tuesday and is considered day-to-day due to a lower-body injury.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch acknowledged McDavid felt discomfort during the final five minutes of Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames. He also told reporters that McDavid could sit out the team’s game versus visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday.

Edmonton (47-24-5, 99 points), which has secured a postseason berth, is five points behind the first-place Vancouver Canucks in the Pacific Division.

McDavid, 27, has recorded 31 goals to go along with career-best 99 assists in 74 games this season.

A three-time (and reigning) Hart Trophy winner, McDavid has totaled 980 points (334 goals, 646 assists) in 643 career games since being selected by the Oilers with the top overall pick of the 2015 NHL draft.
