Four-star Class of 2025 linebacker Dawson Merritt has committed to Alabama football, Merritt told On3 on Wednesday.
The Stillwell, Kansas, native picked Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide out of 24 total offers, including Nebraska, Oklahoma and Missouri. He becomes the 19th commitment in Alabama’s 2025 class and the fifth linebacker alongside Abduall Sanders Jr., Jaedon Harmon, Darrell Johnson and Luke Metz.
Prior to Merritt’s commitment, Alabama’s 2025 class ranked second in the nation per the 247Sports Composite.

The 247Sports Composite has Merritt tabbed as the third-ranked prospect in Kansas and the 11th-ranked linebacker in the class. He ranks No. 92 nationally amongst the 2025 class.
Merritt, who is 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, completed his junior year at Blue Valley High School with 83 total tackles, 17 of those being for loss, along with 16 quarterback hurries and seven sacks.
Merritt took his official visit to the Capstone on June 7. Christian Robinson is listed as his primary recruiter.
