While the Oregon Ducks have been known for their high-flying offenses over the years, one thing that Dan Lanning has made sure of during his time in Eugene is that the Ducks would be known for their defense as well.
The former national championship-winning defensive coordinator has done a great job of building up Oregon’s defense in the past couple of years, recruiting at a high level in the trenches while landing impact players out of the transfer portal on that side of the ball.
It has all resulted in the Ducks projecting to have one of the top defenses in the nation this year, according to EA Sports’ College Football 25.
The new video game unveiled its defensive ratings on Thursday, where the Ducks have the third-highest rating in the nation with a 90 overall. Ohio State (96) and Georgia (94) are the only two teams ahead of Oregon.
With the return of stars like Jeffrey Bassa, Jordan Burch, and Jestin Jacobs, plus the additions of Jabbar Muhammad, Ja’Maree Caldwell, and Kobe Savage, there’s a real chance that the Ducks have one of the best defenses we’ve seen in quite some time in Eugene.
