Brentwood Academy football athlete Kolbe Harmon believes he will fit in well with a new coaching staff at Duke, led by first-year coach Manny Diaz.
“Coach Diaz is an amazing coach, and what his philosophy is, what he thinks about the game of football, is really appealing to me,” said Harmon, who committed to the Blue Devils on Thursday. “I would like to play under a coach like that.
“(Cornerbacks coach V’Angelo Bentley) and I hit it off immediately. He’s the only person I talked to for super long when he offered me. After that, he kept calling, and the conversations felt right. I felt comfortable and not pressured.”
Duke hired Diaz in December. Diaz named Bentley was named to the staff in early January.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Harmon, one of the Nashville area’s top returning seniors is rated by 247Sports Composite as the No. 20 player in Tennessee and the No. 106 wide receiver in the nation in the 2025 class.
Harmon had 42 receptions for 682 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior.
Harmon, who is also a track and field standout, chose Duke over Tennessee, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Mississippi State, Wisconsin, Miami, Missouri, Kentucky, Louisville and several other Power Five programs.
“My first visit (to Duke in March), it was just outright beautiful,” said Harmon, who took an official visit to Duke last weekend prior to deciding on the Blue Devils. “Right off the plane, I told my dad that this feels right. During my official visit, I got with the team, and you would have thought we had been friends for seven years, the way we talked.”
