Proximity isn’t everything in recruiting and Notre Dame football felt that on Friday afternoon.
The Irish had offered in-state 2025 wide receiver JonAnthony Hall earlier this month, but the timing of the offer didn’t allow the Irish to make up enough ground. Although he did make an official visit to South Bend, the uphill battle with Stanford was ultimately lost.
It would have been great to add the 6-foot, 1-inch and 170-pound Hall, but it’s not like Notre Dame isn’t contenders for other big-time receiver prospects. They are a finalist for Derek Meadows and Tanook Hines, while having commitments from Elijah Burress and Jerome Bettis Jr.
Due to Notre Dame’s national recruiting base, they often miss out on some of the best prospects in the state of Indiana. This cycle will be no different as they have just one commit, cornerback Mark Zackery IV, out of the top ten according to the 247Sports Indiana State Rankings.
