Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson hosts camp

It’s always nice to see current and former Ohio State football players being active in the community, especially those that we thought wouldn’t be in Columbus any longer.

Take running back TreVeyon Henderson for example. Most of us believed that he would be off to the NFL after last season but he decided to come back with a lot of his other draft-eligible teammates to see if they can do something truly special this year.

By all accounts though, Henderson is just as good of a person off the field as he is an electrifying weapon on it. He hosted a youth football camp Friday at Olentangy High School in a north subburb of Columbus. He was accompanied by fellow teammate, tight end Gee Scott Jr., as well as hed Olentangy coach Wade Bartholomew and the Centric Sports Group.

Henderson isn’t shy about his newfound faith, and that was a big part of the camp. It wasn’t just football, but about more, including the holistic person.

“He (Henderson) had expressed that he wanted this event to be more than just about football,” Centric Sports Group owner Jacob Byrd said. “He wanted it to be an excellent football camp and was involved in the process with the camp agenda with both myself and Coach Bartholomew, who is the camp director here. Even last night he was giving us feedback on the camp itinerary. But it was his idea to put the cross and John 3:16 on the back of the T-shirts and to have Bibles available.”

Henderson also handed out wrist bands with his life verse on it, 2 Corinthians 5:7, that reads, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

By all accounts Henderson had a blast and so did the kids. He took pictures, spoke, signed autographs, and had a smile fit for a king. It’s great to see these types of things come to fruition and for the players wearing the Scarlet and Gray be great ambassadors for the…
