EG’s Brandon Brown flips to LSU football

Eau Gallie High defensive lineman Brandon Brown flipped his college football commitment on Friday from Texas to LSU.

The 6-foot-1 1/2, 285-pound Brown committed to Texas in December from among four dozen offers from major college programs. For his most recent announcement, he chose between the Longhorns, Tigers, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Last season, Brown was named first-team All-Space Coast Defensive Football. He recorded 65 tackles, 24 of those for loss, with four sacks. Brown’s biggest game statistically came against Satellite, when he made 11 tackles, six of them behind the line of scrimmage.

Against other playoff teams, he made nine tackles versus Bishop Moore, six against Winter Haven, nine at Merritt Island and five with three for loss against Rockledge. In the spring, he competed in the shot put and posted a best mark of 51 feet, 10 inches. He won Cape Coast Conference and District 13-3A titles.
