Former Florida State football, Penn State DB killed in car crash

Former Florida State defensive back Anthony Lytton Jr. died Saturday in a fatal car crash that killed two others in Prince George’s County, Maryland early Saturday morning.

He was 24 years old.

Following the accident, Lytton was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Maryland State Police.

An Upper Marlboro, Maryland native, Lytton was one of three people killed in the crash. The two others — Khyree Jackson and Isaiah Hazel — were with Lytton in the same car, a maroon Dodge Charger.

Jackson was a defensive back at Alabama and Oregon and was preparing for his rookie season with the Minnesota Vikings, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Hazel was a defensive back at Maryland and Charlotte. All three played together at Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, about 10 miles outside Washington, D.C.

Hazel was identified as the driver while Lytton and Jackson were passengers, with the former in the back seat and the latter in the front. Hazel and Jackson were pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation from the Maryland State Police believed that the driver of an Infiniti attempted to change lanes while “driving at a high rate of speed” on Pennsylvania Avenue in Prince George’s County. While doing so, it struck Hazel’s Charger, causing it to veer off the road and into multiple tree stumps, where the vehicle came to rest. A third car, a Chevrolet Impala, was also involved in the accident.
