Queen Creek prospect Tait Reynolds commits to Clemson for football, baseball

Tait Reynolds, who earlier this summer broke off his baseball commitment with Arizona State, announced on social media Sunday that he has committed to Clemson to play both football and baseball.

“So blessed to have the opportunity to play not just one, but two sports that I love at the next level,” Reynolds wrote on his social-media announcement.”

That’s a rarity in today’s major college sports world, but Reynolds, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound Queen Creek High School junior, believes he can pull it off in the ACC.

“He is going to try to make it work his first year there and we will see what happens,” said Paul Reynolds, Tait’s dad, who has two older sons who play college football. “It will only work when you are backed by amazing people and the Clemson coaching staff is just that.”

Reynolds, who plays quarterback in football, is ranked by The Arizona Republic as the No.1 prospect in the Top 100 2026 football recruiting class in the state.

In baseball, he plays center field. He walked off Queen Creek’s 7-6 win over Phoenix’s Sandra Day O’Connor in the bottom of the 10th inning with an RBI single for the 6A state championship in May.

Reynolds has started on Queen Creek’s varsity in both football and baseball since his freshman year.

“I’m probably in the small minority of coaches who doesn’t think it is very difficult to play two sports at the next level when an athlete is as talented as Tait,” said Queen Creek baseball coach Mikel Moreno, who was a star quarterback and outfielder in the early 1990s at Mesa High, before playing baseball at ASU. “Tait is super talented physically, but his extraordinary talent is how much he enjoys the process.
