They’re in the game: Several Tygers alums to be featured in EA Sports’ College Football 25

MANSFIELD — The very first thing Anthony Hawkins did when he opened his copy of NCAA Football 14 was head right to the lab.

The 2019 Mansfield Senior grad was just a young teenager at the time but his football dreams were as big as the stars. So, he fired up his game counsel, spun in his copy of his favorite video game and made himself a part of it. He would create himself, jack up his attributes to the point he was the absolute best player in the entire game and put himself on his favorite college football team.

More than 10 years later, Hawkins can skip a few of those steps. After EA Sports announced the return of a NCAA football video game thanks to a newly passed Name, Image and Likeness rule that allowed college athletes to benefit from themselves, College Football 25 was born and Hawkins, who is the captain of the Bowling Green State University football team, will be in the game.

“It is unreal, to be honest,” Hawkins said. “We came up playing this game so much. We spent a lot of hours on that game and with this being the first game released in 10 years and not having to create myself is a very cool feeling. To see my face and all of that will be surreal.”

A senior defensive lineman, Hawkins has played in 42 career games with the Falcons and is entering his final year of eligibility. He has 110 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, four sacks, a forced fumble and four pass deflections in his career. While his rating in the game is unknown, he will soon be the best defensive lineman in all of College Football 25 when he receives his copy of the game as part of an agreement with those players opting into the game.

And the Falcons will be the favorite to win the National Championship with Hawkins calling…
