College Sports Wire projects Texas Longhorns 2024 record game-by-game

The Texas Longhorns are gearing up for their first season as members of the Southeastern Conference, and to be honest, the transition could not have come at a better time.

When the departure from the Big 12 was announced in the summer of 2021, the Longhorns weren’t necessarily in a bad spot as they were coming off of back-to-back Alamo Bowl wins, but the Oklahoma Sooners seemed to much better suited for the move after winning six straight Big 12 titles. However, head coach Brent Venables is still trying to find his feet after posting a 16-10 record over the past two seasons.

As for Texas, they are in a great spot for the SEC as they are coming off of a 12-win season, a Big 12 title, and a College Football Playoff berth. The Longhorns also showed they are more than capable of competing in the SEC as just a season ago they were able to go into Tuscaloosa and beat Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The schedule will be much more difficult in 2024 with eight SEC games, but Sarkisian’s side is well-equipped. College Sports Wire currently projects that Texas will go 11-1 in 2024 with their only loss being by a field goal against No. 1 ranked Georgia.
