Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark seems to take a shot at the ACC

Did Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormak take a shot at the ACC? Well, it sure seems so!

Big 12 media day recently kicked off with the conference’s commissioner speaking to the media about the conference and the upcoming 2024 season. College football has changed a lot over the past half-decade, and this season, we’ll see some of those biggest changes.

With conference realignment, the SEC and Big Ten have absorbed the best teams from the Big 12 and Pac 12, and the ACC is still in danger of having the same happen to them. Even with the Big 12 losing their top two programs, Texas and Oklahoma, Yormak is still confident in the conference.
During media day, Yormak seemingly took a shot at the ACC while hyping up the new look Big 12.

We solidified ourselves as one of the top three conferences in America,” Yormark said during Big 12 Media Day. “There has never been a better time than right now to be part of the Big 12. We are truly a national conference in 10 states, four time zones and all eyes are now on the Big 12 for all the right reasons. I think it’s safe to say we are more relevant now than ever before.

Maybe it’s not a direct shot at the ACC, but indirectly, it completely is. There is no more Power 5, and that’s clear, but this basically means it’s a Power 3 now, which simply isn’t the case.

Sure, adding Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Arizona State was a fine move for the conference… after losing their two, by far, most valuable programs. Let’s not sugarcoat it, the conference got worse.
