LSU continues to add to its 2025 recruiting class, and on Saturday, it landed a commitment from four-star Destrehan safety Jhase Thomas.
Thomas committed to the in-state Tigers over Houston, Ole Miss and Colorado. A player who didn’t get on LSU’s radar until late in the cycle and only picked up an offer in June, Thomas told On3’s Chad Simmons that it was his dream to play in Baton Rouge.
“Being a Louisiana kid, your dream is to get that LSU offer,” Thomas said. “It’s a dream that you grow up with, so being able to have the opportunity to go to that school is a dream come true. It’s always been a dream of mine that I’ve wanted to make happen.”
Thomas picked up an offer at LSU’s elite camp, and though he took multiple official visits after that, he reportedly told coach Brian Kelly upon being offered that he would be a Tiger. He told On3 that he’s optimistic about the program’s trajectory.
“I feel like we’ll definitely be a national championship team this year,” Thomas said. “We’ll still be one when I get there.”
He added that Kelly is a strong leader but also someone he enjoys being around.
“He’s a very chill coach,” Thomas said. “… He has a very good personality. He can light up a room, for sure. He’s a very funny guy and a great coach. We’ve been building our relationship since the first day that he contacted me. He texts and calls me every day. We stay in contact and talk to each other about football and life in general.”
LSU’s 2025 class, which sits at 16 total commitments with Thomas now on board, ranks No. 6 nationally per 247Sports and No. 5 per On3.
