Jacksonville State’s football stadium will have a new name this fall.
For years, the Gamecocks have played on Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium, but the school announced Tuesday that will change. The stadium will now be known as AmFirst Stadium, after the Board of Trustees approved the name change and partnership.
America’s First Federal Credit Union, otherwise known as AmFirst, is based in Alabama and has locations in 13 counties. It will be the first time a corporate name has appeared on the football stadium.
“As we move into a new and exciting era of Jax State Football, AmFirst has stepped up and made a significant commitment to our university and our football program,” Athletic Director Greg Seitz said in a press release. “This partnership will enhance what is already one of the best environments in college football, on display to a national television audience week in and week out, while also benefiting our fans and community.”
The deal comes ahead of the Gamecocks’ second season in Conference USA, where they finished third on the field but led the league in attendance in 2023. They will have six home games in 2024, starting with an Aug. 29 matchup with Coastal Carolina.
“AmFirst is honored to deepen our relationship with Jacksonville State University through this historic agreement,” president and CEO Bill Connor said. “We are proud to support the Gamecocks and contribute to the thriving university community. This partnership reflects our commitment to the growth and success of both Jax State and the broader Jacksonville community. We look forward to the exciting future that lies ahead at AmFirst Stadium and on the campus of Jax State.”
