In the second announcement surrounding Burgess Snow Field now at AmFirst Stadium in as many days, Jacksonville State football announced a new turf surface.
The design will also change as part to the new playing surface. The design will feature the vintage AKC logo with ‘Jax State’ now in the end zone. Previously a JSU logo was in midfield and the word ‘Gamecocks’ was featured in both end zones. The field will also have logos for AmFirst, adding to the new sponsorship, along the sidelines.
“We’re very excited about our new turf and partnership with AmFirst,” Jax State head football coach Rich Rodriguez said.
The new surface is expected to be in place ahead of the home opener on August 29. The Gamecocks will open the year against Coastal Carolina.
Jacksonville State football announced that Burgess Snow Field at AmFirst Stadium will get a turd revamped ahead of the 2024 season.
Jacksonville State athletic director Greg Seitz said the old playing surface had reached the end of its lifespan, leading to the change. The new surface will be AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D Series. The press release says the surface “improves safety, playability, and durability.”
“Our previous turf was at the end of its lifespan and we saw this as a perfect opportunity to replace our playing surface prior to the start of this season,” Seitz said. “The turf replacement will only add to many other stadium enhancements that will provide a first-class experience, while reducing injuries and improving the safety and well-being of our student-athletes.”
