STILLWATER — Gunnar Gundy’s football career is buzzing again.
The son of Oklahoma State football coach Mike Gundy is set to become a Hornet at Division II Emporia (Kansas) State University, as reported by KSNT News.
After spending his first three seasons playing for his father, Gundy has two years of eligibility remaining.
Gundy appeared in nine games at OSU, completing 54.8% of his passes for 449 yards and four touchdowns. He rushed for 120 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown run in the Texas Bowl last December, his final game as a Cowboy.
He initially entered the transfer portal in December and received multiple offers before committing to Ohio. But after a few days on campus, he reversed course and re-entered the portal in late January.
Gundy spent the spring at home with his family in Stillwater, but now will make the three-hour trek north to play for Oklahoma native Garin Higgins, who is entering his 17th year leading the NCAA Division II program. The Hornets are coming off back-to-back nine-win seasons.
