5 questions Jets must answer during 2024 NFL training camp

NFL training camp gets underway this week for the Jets. Let’s review some of the main things they’ll be seeking to evaluate…

Can Aaron Rodgers get back to his old self?

The Jets brought in Rodgers last season to bring them back to relevancy after an NFL-high 13-year playoff drought. Unfortunately, that came crashing down when Rodgers tore his Achilles on his fourth snap of the regular season.

Heading into 2024, Rodgers is back at the helm and the Jets have made every effort to surround him with enough talent so the team can contend. However, can a player who has already turned 40 be expected to return as strong as ever from the first major injury of his career?

It seems likely that Rodgers’ mobility will be compromised, but the Jets will be hoping that his smarts, arm talent and the personnel around him will enable him to return to being one of the league’s top passers.

The reality, however, is that the Jets quarterbacks have played so poorly over the past several years that even if Rodgers is a notch below his best, he’s still likely to be an upgrade at the position.

Tony Adams, who started alongside Whitehead last season, played well enough to ensure he’ll be the starter again in 2024. However, the main two candidates to be the other starter are Chuck Clark and Ashtyn Davis.

Clark probably would have started in 2023 if he had not suffered a torn ACL during the offseason. He was a solid starter on some strong defenses in Baltimore before the Jets traded for him, but never got a chance to suit up for Gang Green.

Although Clark has been getting plenty of first-team work in the offseason, Davis had the best season of his career in a utility…
