With July coming to a close, a new high school football season is on the horizon.
Ahead of the tryouts and training camps, and before the first kickoff whistle sounds under those famed Friday night lights in the Greater Taunton area, the Taunton Daily Gazette is kicking off our 2024 high school football coverage with a look at all four area team’s schedules, and last but not least is Bristol-Plymouth.
The Craftsmen are coming off a 3-8 season with a team that largely consisted of underclassmen. Led by All-Scholastic quarterback and 2024 graduate Ryan Donovan, B-P scored an overtime win over South Shore Tech and a shutout of Nantucket. They also held their own for much of the game with rivals and Mayflower Athletic Conference Large champions Blue Hills in their annual Thanksgiving Eve showdown to close out the season.
This year, the Craftsmen are under new, but familiar, leadership as longtime assistant Roger Saraiva took over the head coaching role after John Parris announced his retirement following 17 years at the helm. With construction on campus still underway, B-P once again will play their home games at Taunton High’s Aleixo “Tiger” Stadium, with the exception of one. The Craftsmen keep the same two MAC Small schools on the schedule for non-league games, but swap out Mashpee and West Bridgewater for a pair of fellow voc-techs.
Bristol-Plymouth players take to the field ahead of the 2023 Homecoming game against Southeastern.
