Lee County (Leesburg, Georgia) defensive lineman Jeramiah McCloud has been locked in with the Florida Gators since verbally committing to the program in May, but that hasn’t stopped other Power Four programs from pushing for a flip.
According to Swamp247, McCloud has heard from LSU, Georgia, Auburn, USC, and Florida State since committing to Florida. Visits to FSU and UGA could come around his trip to Gainesville this weekend.
“I’m still committed, but I’m still getting recruited. My recruitment is still open, but I am solid with my decision. I am hearing from a few schools, but feel solid with it. My commitment is something I’m happy with, and it’s been fun.”
It looks like in-state Georgia is the bigger threat to flip McCloud. He was in Athens during the spring and will return before signing with Florida.
“Georgia, that’s a big factor in my recruitment. Me being from Georgia, knowing a top school in the country is recruiting me, it means a lot,” McCloud said to Dawgs247. “I have a great relationship with Coach Tray (Scott), Coach Kirby (Smart), and my coaches talk to them every day.”
It’s not time for Florida to hit the panic button just yet, but the Gators need to combat Georgia’s pressure to keep McCloud in the recruiting class. He’s back in the Peach State for his senior year of high school, and his teammates are pushing the ‘Dawgs.
“So, I’m committed to Florida, but I want to make sure that’s the right fit for me, so I’m still keeping my options open,” he said. “The relationship I had with Florida was like, why not? I had recently decommitted from Mississippi State to Florida. The relationship I have with Coach Armstrong, Coach Chapman, Coach Napier, they’re great people outside of football.”
