UCF football flips consensus 4-star defensive back Jamarrion Gordon from Alabama

Ahead of its signature summer recruiting event, UCF made a major splash by poaching a four-star defensive back from Alabama.

Jackson (Ala.) rising junior Jamarrion Gordon flipped his verbal commitment in the Knights’ favor Friday afternoon, joining wide receiver Keeyun Chapman — his high school teammate — as the first pair on board in the Knights’ 2026 class.

Gordon (6-0, 174) played all 12 games for Jackson last fall, helping the Aggies to an 11-1 record and a second-round berth in Alabama’s Class 4A playoffs. In two varsity seasons, he has totaled 72 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions and 10 pass breakups.

“I believe in (cornerbacks coach Trovon) Reed and (head coach) Gus (Malzahn),” Gordon said in a phone interview. “I believe they will put me in the NFL. … Coach Reed did it before, and he already knows what I’m trying to do and what I’m going through.”

Verbally committed to the Crimson Tide since May 18, Gordon toured UCF’s campus last month and returned Friday for the annual Knight Splash event. He is joined by Chapman and another pair of coveted Jackson athletes — quarterback Landon Duckworth, who recently backed off a commitment to South Carolina, and running back Ezavier Crowell.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Gordon is the No. 217 overall recruit in the country for the 2026 cycle. On3 Sports ranks him 205th overall and 21st among cornerbacks.

Only 21 FBS programs currently have multiple 2026 commits, per 247Sports. As for 2025, UCF has 19 commits in a class currently ranked 24th nationally.
