3 things to know about Ohio State TE Gee Scott Jr. before 2024 season

Gee Scott Jr. is back for a fifth season of Ohio State football.

Scott is projected to lead an Ohio State tight end room this fall that includes Ohio transfer Will Kacmarek, returners Bennett Christian and Jelani Thurman, and newcomers Max LeBlanc and Damarion Witten, who could move between the tight end and wide receiver position.

Here’s what to know about Scott heading into the 2024 season:

Gee Scott Jr. joined Ohio State as a wide receiver

Scott did not join Ohio State’s roster as a tight end.

He was a four-star wide receiver in the 2020 class and was the 10th-best option at the position in the country ahead of receivers such as Quentin Johnston (TCU), Jermaine Burton (Georgia) and Josh Downs (North Carolina). Scott was the No. 66 player in the country, and was one of four Ohio State wide receivers in the class along with Julian Fleming, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Mookie Cooper.

Scott moved to tight end during spring practice of 2021.

Scott’s collegiate production doubled in 2023.

Coming into his fourth season with 10 catches for 70 yards and a touchdown – a two-yard touchdown reception from C.J. Stroud against Michigan State in 2022 – Scott matched his career totals in 2023, recording 10 catches for 70 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown catch from Kyle McCord against Rutgers.

Scott has 20 catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns.
