Tennessee football continued its recruiting hot streak by beating out Ohio State for defensive lineman Darrion Smith.
The 6-foot-2, 265-pounder from Baltimore committed to the Vols on Tuesday.
Smith, a senior at St. Frances Academy, is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite. He is ranked No. 69 among defensive linemen and No. 650 overall in the 2025 class.
Smith received scholarship offers from more than 20 schools, including Tennessee, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and South Carolina in the SEC.
He took an unofficial visit to UT over the weekend and announced his decision after returning home.
Smith can sign on Dec. 4, when the early signing period begins. He is the 21st commitment in UT’s 2025 class.
Smith joins quarterback George MacIntyre, offensive lineman Douglas Utu, tight end Da’Saahn Brame, safety Lagonza Hayward, defensive lineman Mariyon Dye, wide receiver Travis Smith, defensive lineman Ethan Utley, linebacker Christian Gass, wide receiver Radarious Jackson, edge rusher Jayden Loftin, offensive lineman Nic Moore and tight end Jack Van Dorselaer (all four stars).
The Vols also are bringing in running back Justin Baker, safety Sidney Walton, offensive tackle Antoni Kade Ogumoro, cornerback Tre Poteat, cornerback Dylan Lewis, defensive lineman Charles House, wide receiver Joakim Dodson and star cornerback Tyler Redmond (all three stars).
