Ahead of Colorado and UCF’s first season together in the Big 12 Conference, which will include a Sept. 28 matchup in Orlando, head coaches Deion Sanders and Gus Malzahn have each spoken highly of the other.

Unprompted, Sanders shared his respect for Malzahn at Big 12 football media days last month. “Much love to Gus,” Colorado’s second-year head coach said.

Malzahn, who’s entering his fourth season leading the Knights, reciprocated the kind gesture earlier this week when asked about Sanders during a press conference (h/t Andrew Cherico):

“People can say what they want, but he (Coach Prime) has brought more attention to Colorado football in the last two years than they may have had since they won the national championship,” Malzahn said. “Every coach has their own way of doing things, including me… Whether people agree or disagree, let me tell you they’re talking about it, and the national media is talking about it. Recruits like it. It’s a big game coming here (to UCF). Let’s say he wasn’t the coach and they (CU) come here, it probably wouldn’t be the same. I’ve got a lot of respect for him and the way he does it. I do it my way and he does his way.”

Malzahn also spoke about Sanders’ son and Colorado starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders, calling him one of college football’s top signal callers.

“His son, the quarterback, he’s one of the best in the country, if not the best,” Malzahn said. “I saw that when I was at that camp when he was going into 10th grade. That guy’s really good; he just happens to be Deion Sanders’ son.”

I asked #UCF Head Coach Gus Malzahn about Colorado Head Coach Deion Sanders respectful comments about him on #Big12…
