There may not be a hotter team on the recruiting trail right now than Auburn, and that momentum carried into Saturday with the commitment of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson five-star EDGE Jared Smith.

Smith chose the Tigers over Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and USC.

247Sports is high on Smith ranking him as the No. 19 overall prospect, the No. 2 EDGE and No. 2 player in Alabama.

The 247Sports Composite Rankings list McNutt as the country’s No. 57 overall prospect, the No. 5 EDGE, and the No. 4 player in Alabama.

Smith was previously at Spain Park before transferring to Thompson midway through his junior season.

The Tigers continue to win major recruiting battles

Smith’s pledge makes him the second five-star commitment in Auburn’s 2025 class. In January, Opelika (Ala.) five-star defensive lineman Malik Autry committed to the Tigers.

Hugh Freeze and his staff have been on fire recruiting over the last two months, landing 14 of the team’s current 22 pledges. Since July, Auburn has landed nine new pledges.

The class ranks No. 5 nationally.
