Auburn football is making a name for itself in the recruiting game, racking up some of the most sought out high school prospects in the nation. Big Cat Weekend has been a large reason for that success, and the Tigers pulled in another big commit on Saturday.
Four-star EDGE [autotag]Jared Smith[/autotag] pledged his commitment to the Plains and head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] at his decision ceremony, becoming Auburn’s fifth commit in the class of 2025 in the last week.
The Tigers beat out Georgia, South Carolina and Ole Miss for Smith, continuing their success against conference foes in this cycle.
The phenom out of Thompson High School (Ala.) received numerous expert predictions to land on the Plains throughout his recruiting race. Couple that with the positive commitment trend that the team is on, this announcement comes as no surprise.
Smith made a visit to Auburn during Big Cat Weekend and left with a highly positive impression on what the team can do with him on it.
The 6-foot-6, 235-pound star is ranked as the No. 42 overall player and No. 4 EDGE in the nation according to the On3 industry ranking. He is also the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama.
Smith’s high school teammates [autotag]Anquon Fegans[/autotag] and [autotag]John Alan McGuire[/autotag] both committed to the program earlier in the week.
Now, Smith is the highest rated player in the Tigers’ class, and with his commitment, Freeze’s squad has now landed eight of the top 10 players in Alabama. Auburn’s 2025 group ranks No. 6 in the nation following the announcement.
