The Ray Guy Award announced its 2024 watch list on Friday and Colorado’s own Mark Vassett was among the 33 players who made the cut.

Presented annually since 2000, the Ray Guy Award honors college football’s top punter. Legendary Colorado leg Mark Mariscal remains the only Buffs punter to earn the award, taking home the trophy in 2002. Fellow CU great John Torp was recognized as a finalist three years later.

Vassett, an Australian punter who began his college career at Louisville, also made the Ray Guy Award watch last August ahead of his first season with the Buffs.

Last year, Vassett averaged 44.4 yards per punt on 65 attempts. Sixteen of his boots traveled longer than 50 yards and 22 landed inside the 20-yard line.

Other Colorado players who’ve made preseason award watch lists include quarterback Shedeur Sanders (Maxwell Award), defensive linemen BJ Green II (Outland Trophy), wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter (Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Thorpe Award, Paul Hornung Award) and DL Shane Cokes (Wuerffel Trophy).
