Four-star offensive line recruit Jaylen Gilchrist has committed to the Maryland Terrapins over the Georgia Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks. Gilchrist’s decision comes as a bit of a surprise as South Carolina was favored to land his commitment, per 247Sports.
Gilchrist is Maryland’s top commitment in the class of 2025. He elected to stay closer to home over joining an SEC football program. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound interior offensive lineman is Maryland’s 21st commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Maryland has the No. 26 recruiting class in the country.
Gilchrist plays high school football for Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Gilchrist is ranked as the nation’s No. 91 recruit and the third-ranked prospect in Virginia. Gilchrist is the third-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
The Salem standout has experience playing on both sides of the ball. Gilchrist has experience playing both offensive tackle and offensive guard at the high school level.
Georgia football and Kirby Smart currently have the No. 3 recruiting class in the country. The Bulldogs recently added a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Juan Gaston.
