PLATTEVILLE – The Wisconsin football staff didn’t just bolster its defensive line through the transfer portal this offseason, they’ve been hitting the high school ranks, too.
That work has paid off in the last two months as the Badgers have received commitments from four players.
The latest came Monday morning when Xavier Ukponu, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound tackle from Denton, Texas, announced his commitment to the Badgers on X.
He joins Middleton’s Torin Pettaway and Florida prospects Wilnerson Telemque and Nicolas Clayton in UW’s 2025 class. Unlike those other D-line commits, Ukponu projects as an interior lineman.
The Badgers have 23 known commitments to its class.
Ukponu is considered a three-star recruit by Rivals, 247sports, ESPN and On3.
He recently announced offers from Baylor and SMU and according to Rivals and 247sports received more than 30 Division I offers.`
