Texas A&M’s blockbuster season opener vs. Notre Dame is just weeks away. The Aggies will take on the blue-blood program on Saturday, August 31, in front of what could be a sold-out Kyle Field amid head coach Mike Elko’s inaugural season.

One of the players that will continue to garner immense attention this month has plenty to prove this season, as redshirt sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman is looking bigger, stronger, and more confident after missing more than half of the 2023 season due to a foot/ankle injury.

Even with just four starts last fall, Weigman threw for nearly 1,000 yards, eight touchdowns, and just two interceptions, proving that his ceiling remains extremely high with plenty of opportunities ahead of him. This offseason, the Aggie signal-caller has been named to several preseason award lists, and on Monday, you can now add his name to the Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list.

Named after former player, coach, and sports writer Walter Camp, the award has been won by 22 quarterbacks since its inception in 1967. Last season, former LSU QB Jayden Daniels took home the award alongside his Heisman Trophy.

Texas A&M will face Notre Dame on Saturday, August 31st, at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will air on ABC.
