The preseason accolades continued to roll in for the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday, as a pair of running backs – Jam Miller and Justice Haynes – were named to the watch list for the 2024 Doak Walker Award.
An award that Alabama has won three times before (Trent Richardson in 2011, Derrick Henry in 2015, and Najee Harris in 2020), the Doak Walker recognizes the top running back in college football annually.
Miller has seen a notable amount of action across each of his first two years in Tuscaloosa, rushing for a combined 424 yards and three touchdowns on 74 attempts, while also amassing 72 yards and another score on five receptions. The junior also rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown on 41 attempts a year ago.
Haynes, who is a former five-star prospect, saw limited action a year ago as a freshman by rushing for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 25 attempts.
With both of Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams no longer in Tuscaloosa, the duo of Miller and Haynes are now set to shine in 2024. Could this result in one eventually winning Alabama’s fourth Doak Walker Award?
