On the Conquest Call-In show on the USC Voice of College Football, a caller (Kyle from Utah) asked Trojans Wire we felt that the players were picking up both the physical and mental fundamentals of football that the coaching staff has mentioned in the spring and during both Big Ten media days and the recent USC media day last week.
The teaching process began in the spring with these players, but in a real sense, the journey begins for real here in August. Did players retain knowledge they first received a few months ago? Is there a fluid, seamless process of applying information and soaking up what the coaches are saying, or are players falling behind in terms of grasping concepts and making sure they’re baked into their everyday approach? The coaching staff has said that it won’t proceed with more complicated teaching instructions until it knows that the basics are being absorbed. Is this process going as smoothly as we all hope it is? That’s what we’re talking about in the segment below:
