5-star wide receiver commits to SEC foe over Alabama, others

.

One of the premier wide receivers in the 2025 class, Kaliq Lockett officially committed to the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday afternoon over a list of four additional finalists.

Included in that group was the Alabama Crimson Tide, who were joined by the Florida State Seminoles, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Lockett is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 20 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 6 player in the state of Texas where he attends Sachse High School. A five-star prospect, Lockett is also considered as the No. 5 overall wide receiver in the 2025 class.

With Lockett now a member of Texas’ 2025 class, the Crimson Tide still own a total of two wide receiver commitments this cycle in Caleb Cunningham, a five-star prospect, and Lotzeir Brooks, a four-star.

Alabama’s 2025 class also still sits at No. 2 nationally, trailing only the Ohio State Buckeyes, who own four more commits than the Crimson Tide.
