The Longhorns have landed the program’s first five-star recruit from the Class of 2025.
Kaliq Lockett, the talented Sacshe (Texas) receiver, committed to Texas on Wednesday, choosing the new SEC squad over Florida State and in-conference powerhouses Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU.
It’s a massive win for coach Steve Sarkisian, and it lessens the recruiting sting from losing Dakorien Moore, the five-star wideout from Texas Super 25 perennial Duncanville, who chose Oregon over the Longhorns.
For Lockett, who is currently ranked as the No. 3 receiver in the class of ’25, and spoke highly of both Sarkisian and receivers coach Chris Jackson, the commitment is the first major step toward achieving his goal of playing in the NFL.
“My plan is to go three years and done,” he told On3. “The school that I chose is the best way to be one of the best receivers in the country and to be a first-round receiver.”
