As the Oklahoma Sooners inch closer to the upcoming 2024 season, plenty of players have found their way onto preseason watchlists for various awards.
One such player is redshirt sophomore wide receiver [autotag]Nic Anderson[/autotag], who make the Biltenikoff Award preseason watchlist on Wednesday.
The Biletnikoff Award recognizes the college football season’s outstanding FBS receiver, regardless of position. The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, and former receivers. The award is named after Hall of Fame wideout Fred Biletnikoff, who was a consensus All-American and led the country in receiving touchdowns and receiving yards in his senior season at Florida State.
Anderson broke onto the scene last season as a redshirt freshman, catching 38 passes for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games. He was second in the Big 12 in touchdown receptions, hauling in three scores in OU’s game against Tulsa.
Head coach [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag] will likely be asking even more of Anderson this season, as the Sooners enter the [autotag]SEC[/autotag]. He’ll likely be asked to step up and help lead the offense along with quarterback [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag], running back [autotag]Gavin Sawchuk[/autotag], and fellow wide receiver [autotag]Deion Burks[/autotag].
