Michigan football lands Jayden Sanders, four-star class of 2025 DB

The Michigan football program has added some reinforcements to its future secondary.

The Wolverines landed four-star cornerback Jayden Sanders out of Texas (Kilgore) on Saturday; he’s now the 16th recruit in Michigan’s 2025 class, but just the first cornerback to commit to the Maize and Blue and new defensive backs coach Lamar Morgan.

Sanders, who stands 6 feet 2 and 172 pounds, chose the Wolverines out of more than a dozen Division I offers and directly over other finalists Baylor and Oklahoma State.

‘IT’S TIME TO GO’: Michigan football’s team filled with players ready for their chance

“Unverified size, but looks tall and wiry on the hoof. Instinctive three-phase playmaker with a strong football pedigree as the son of a former all-conference corner who played on some great TCU late 2000s teams,” writes 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks. “Three-sport athlete with experience in basketball and track and field that shows in functional athleticism on the gridiron. Elevates in the open floor with above-the-rim finishing ability. Productive in all three phases, including two special teams TDs as a junior.

“Field-stretching vertical shot threat at receiver. Big-framed corner on D with potential to fit a framey boundary corner role quite well, though skill set and instincts also could fit over the top at safety. Not necessarily a top-end burner but plenty fast with unorthodox gait, but does not get caught from behind. Bona fide Power Four prospect in the secondary. Owns the developmental potential to become a difference maker in college with NFL Draft upside.”

Though he’s the first corner, this makes three high-level defensive backs in the secondary in U-M’s 2025 class as he joins top-100 rated four-stars Kainoa Winston (Gonzaga) and Ivan Taylor (West Orange), son of former NFL star Ike Taylor.
