The Crimson Tide football team continued practice Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, as they prepare for the season opener and the first game under new head coach Kalen DeBoer. DeBoer watches as Alabama defensive back Alijah May (38) runs a drill.
The Alabama Crimson Tide were ranked as the No. 5 team in the country to begin the 2024 season according to the preseason AP Top 25 Poll, which was released Monday afternoon.
This is the same ranking that the Crimson Tide held in the US LBM Coaches Poll, which was released last Monday afternoon.
Alongside the Crimson Tide, there were eight other SEC teams ranked within the preseason Top 25, headlined by Georgia at No. 1. Alabama also received 1,260 total points to be ranked fifth, but did not receive any first place votes.
