Former Nebraska basketball recruit commits to Michigan

.

A former Nebraska basketball recruit committed to a Big Ten rival. Last week, McKenzie Mathurin committed to the Michigan Wolverines.

Mathurin is a shooting guard for Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, OK. In 25 games last season, she averaged 21.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.

ESPN ranked her the No. 55 recruit in her class. In May, she decommitted from Nebraska. Mathurin told On3 why she changed her commitment to Michigan.

“When I committed, I was playing with Broken Arrow and my high school team, and I was the best player on the team. The only star and that’s what I was used to. But after playing with Team Trae Young and with these literal superstars as teammates, I kind of changed my perspective.”

The Huskers have one commitment to their 2025 recruiting class. In July, Amy Williams received a commitment from five-star recruit Olivia Hamlin.

Hamlin averaged 27.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.8 steals, and 3.5 assists per game last season. She chose Nebraska over Virginia Tech.
