Ohio State Football misses out on five star offensive tackle

Recruiting

Ohio State Football has been a hotbed for talented offensive linemen over the last decade. Names like Paris Johnson Jr. and Billy Price have come to Ohio State and left being a first-round pick.

Unfortunately, for the Buckeyes, that allure doesn’t always attract the top talent, and that was the case for Josh Petty, a five-star tackle in the Class of 2025.

Petty went with Georgia Tech over some of the nation’s top programs, including Ohio State and Tennessee. “I know it’s the right place for me,” Petty told 247Sports. The home-field advantage played a large part.

rom Roswell, Georgia, Petty was the No. 2 overall tackle in the class and the No. 14 overall recruit. He was recruited by Justin Frye and took a visit to Columbus on June 14.

The Buckeyes have the No. 1 Class of 2025, but they don’t have a ton of top-tier offensive line talent. The best lineman joining Ohio State Football in the class of now is Carter Lowe, a four-star commit from Whitmer in Toledo.
