Florida football held its 12th practice of fall camp on Wednesday at the Sanders Practice Fields.
Fall camp will conclude next week, as the Florida Gators will end up practicing 17 times during a 22-day period to prepare for the 2024 season, which opens Aug. 31 at The Swamp against Miami (3:30 p.m., ABC).
“It’s been a grind,” Florida linebacker Shemar James said. “You know, we are kind of in the dog days of camp right now, I believe it’s day … it feels like day 30. We’re just now working on consistency, consistently taking the right steps, consistently doing your job. I believe we’re getting better each and every day with that.”
Florida football coach Billy Napier said the final two weeks of practice will present opportunities for players to move up the depth chart, depending on how they perform. Florida will hold its second fall scrimmage at The Swamp on Saturday.

Florida football RB competition heating up
The Florida football running back competition remains strong as Treyaun Webb, Ja’Kobi Jackson, KD Daniels and Jadan Baugh all looked good in running and pass protection drills on Wednesday night.
The 5-foot-11, 209-pound Jackson, a JUCO transfer and former Pensacola Catholic standout, scored on a TD run during Saturday’s scrimmage.
“We took a chance on the guy, and I would tell you, ‘Man, he’s made us right,'” Napier said. “He’s proved us right … He’s got great instincts, great vision, good patience, he sees it well, he’s decisive, he’s a good practice player, has a good attitude.”
