Top Colorado football walk-ons to know entering 2024

Everybody loves a great college football walk-on story, and the Colorado Buffaloes have several non-scholarship players who’ve made noise during their time in Boulder.

Additionally, two notable Buffs have proven that with hard work and the right mindset, walk-ons can become scholarship players. Running back Charlie Offerdahl spent his first three seasons at Colorado as a walk-on before recently earning a scholarship, and defensive lineman BJ Green II began his college career as an Arizona State walk-on before being put on scholarship. Offerdahl and Green are now fighting for starting roles ahead of the 2024 season.

Below are nine CU football walk-ons you should know about:

OG Cash Cleveland

Cash Cleveland was a teammate of fellow Colorado offensive lineman Jordan Seaton at the prestigious IMG Academy. Besides having one of the Buffs’ better names, Cleveland represents an important depth piece.

LS Camden Dempsey

Camden Dempsey is one of the coolest Buffs of all time.

Camden Dempsey, also known as “The Governor,” is a longtime Buffs long snapper who has become one of Coach Prime’s favorite role players. His impact in the locker room will likely outweigh his on-field contributions, though.

S Ben Finneseth

Ben Finneseth is another pre-Coach Prime player who could earn some time on special teams this season. The Durango, Colorado native has also been an energetic fixture inside the Buffs’ locker room.
