The 2024 high school football season is upon us. This year is loaded with some big-name stars. We wanted to break down the top prospects who have a chance to win National Player of The Year in the 2024 season.
Last season, MaxPreps and Gatorade National Player of the Year DJ Lagway (Florida) threw for 4,631 yards and 58 touchdowns to go with 975 yards on the ground and 15 more scores. He was No. 1 consensus player in high school football.
Honorable mention selections for National Player of The Year in 2024: Jahkeem Stewart (DL) of Saint Augustine (La.); Kendre Harrison (TE/DL) of Providence Day (N.C.); Jordon Davison (RB) of Mater Dei (Calif.); Deondre Riden (RB) of Desoto (Tex.); and Keelon Russell (QB) of Duncanville (Tex.).
Now let’s dive into the top five contenders for the upcoming season, which include two potential USC commits.
1. Julian Lewis
Julian Lewis’ stats last year via MaxPreps: 3,094 passing yards, 66.4% completion rate, 48 passing touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a 140.1 QB rating in 2023 for Carrolton High School in Georgia.
The USC commit has led the Carrolton Trojans to 25-3 record over last two years and will have his team in contention to win its first state championship since 1998.
