Ohio State football missed out on the College Football Playoff last season.
But ESPN College Football analyst Kirk Herbstreit, like other college football analysts, believes that won’t happen this year with the No. 2 Buckeyes, who are considered national championship contenders.
During Saturday’s edition of “College GameDay” in Dublin for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic between FSU and Georgia Tech, Herbstreit announced his projection for this year’s 12-team College Football Playoff. And the former Buckeye had Ohio State as his No. 2 seed, which also means Ryan Day’s squad is his pick to win the Big Ten Conference.

Ohio State, which was also picked to win the Big Ten and earn the No. 2 seed in the CFP by former Alabama coach Nick Saban on Saturday, kicks off its season next week on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m. ET against Akron at Ohio Stadium.
