Former Jets WR Brandon Marshall expecting big things from Garrett Wilson this season

Garrett Wilson is very good at football.

You know that, I know that, almost everyone around the game knows that.

But one former Jets wide receiver who knows a thing or two about being up there among the greats in this league thinks the young wideout has the upside and potential to reach that level in the near future.

“How big can this kid be? He can be the best,” Brandon Marshall told Caroline Hendershot of Jets.com. “His ability, his heart, it’s up there with the Justin Jefferson‘s, it’s up there with Davante Adams, and so on and so forth. There’s a lot that goes into that but the sky’s the limit for this kid, he just needs to take it one play and one game at a time.”

Despite working with sluggish quarterback play since being selected out of Ohio State with the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Wilson has quickly established himself as a force for Gang Green’s offense.

The sure-handed receiver put together a terrific opening act, locking up the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award after scoring four times and setting new franchise records with 83 receptions and 1,103 yards.

After the team acquired Aaron Rodgers in an offseason trade, many thought he’d follow that up with an even bigger sophomore campaign, but those plans were quickly derailed when the veteran suffered a season-ending injury just four snaps into the opener against the Bills.

Wilson worked with a revolving door of struggling quarterbacks again, but his production never faltered, as he topped his receptions mark (95) and broke the 1,000 yard ledger for the second consecutive season (1,042).

Now with Rodgers back healthy, a much-improved rebuilt offensive line, and complementary receivers added to the mix, the expectations are sky-high for Wilson and the rest of the Jets offense heading into this season.
