Parkway state champion Devon Oliver sits flush with SEC, Big 12 football offers

While the offers continue rolling in for Parkway’s Devon Oliver, the Panther big man and state champion discus hurler is in no hurry to nail down his college choice.

Missouri, Texas Tech, SMU, Houston, Vanderbilt and Yale are just a few of the schools who have come calling for his services.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound defensive lineman said he hasn’t set a date for declaring his intentions.

“All schools are an interest so far. I’m still looking to make a decision,” Oliver told the USA TODAY Network. “I plan to announce before this football season or after.”

Oliver is part of a stellar group of senior offensive and defensive linemen in Northwest Louisiana heading into the fall. He joins Calvary’s Devin Harper, Captain Shreve’s LJ Prudhomme and Benton’s Witt Van Hoy with Power 5 offers.

Oliver said he hasn’t yet taken or scheduled any visits, but he is perusing the opportunities at the schools that have offered. And he doesn’t plan on being an early enrollee.

“I’m looking to see if they have my major and a good coaching program,” he said.

Primarily a defensive player, Oliver may also compete on the offensive side this fall also. Coach Coy Brotherton is just thankful to have Oliver in his lineup.
