Kenny Dillingham provides Arizona State injury updates before Wyoming game

Not again.

Ahead of the 2024 football season opener against Wyoming, Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham provided an injury update on missing key players. Dillingham said that defensive lineman Prince Dorbah, offensive lineman Sean Na’a, running back Raleek Brown and linebacker Tate Romney will miss some time as they continue their recoveries.

The Sun Devils are coming off an injury-plagued 2023 season, which saw 31 players miss time due to injuries.

Dorbah is dealing with a knee injury that required surgery and he’s projected to miss two to four weeks. Dillingham said Na’a is on a similar timeline dealing with a different, undisclosed injury which also required surgery. Brown — who has no timeline for his injury — is working his way back from hurting his hamstring and is at around 90%, although it’s unlikely he will suit up against Wyoming on Saturday. Romney is dealing with a broken arm and is probably out for four to six weeks.

Na’a and Dorbah had been working with the starters in their respective units while Brown is eyeing a big role in the backfield along Cam Skattebo. Romney was looking at a backup role with the linebackers. Elijah O’Neal is the player who stands to see significantly more time in place of Dorbah as Dillingham referred to him as the most improved player on the team.

The injuries to the defensive line and offensive line will sting as those groups were hit hard last year, but the running back room might be the deepest in Tempe. Dillingham isn’t too concerned at the moment.

“From there, we’re fairly healthy,” Dillingham said at a Monday press conference with local media. “Through a physical camp, we had some guys go down there. But luckily for us, nothing was out for the season. Nothing along those terms.”

It’s the inaugural season in the Big 12 conference for the Sun Devils….
